Prologue
=======
And so the epic begins... But before a good story begins, there has to be a preface, introduction, or prologue, you can't just dive into it blindly. So here's the game plan... My name is Dan and this is my story. For those of you who know me, this will be quite bland and tasteless. But who knows? Maybe you'll learn a little bit about me along the way. So how did I get to this point, you ask? It all started in Taiwan when I was born oh-so-many years ago(22 to be exact and if you really had to know). I did the whole growing up thing, mostly in California, but I took two three-year sabbaticals in Taiwan. On appearance, I'm a funny looking asian guy who acts white, but I am fairly bicultural. I am fluent in Mandarin, I prefer chopsticks, and I still hold a very Far-East Asian view on life. All this being said, I'm also a Southern Californian at heart. And for those of you not from the great Golden state, there is a HUGE difference between SoCal and NorCal. Even though I lived for a few years in "The City"(SF), I prefer the sunshine, the beaches, the relaxed attitude of Southern California(Boy I'm gonna miss LA).
Now having the choice to go out-of-state for college, I opted to stay in LA and attend USC(and for years now, I've always felt the need to explain why I chose to stay at USC as if it weren't good enough, but I've decided to do this no more. After a summer of being an OA, I love this school). back to the story... so in May of 2002, I graduated from good ole Univ. of Southern California (Fight ON!) with a degree in Psychology. So what am I gonna do with a psych degree? work in the real world? nah... I don't do well with the whole 9-5 office hour thing... become a shrink? nah... have enough problems of my own than to deal with other peoples' problems... instead, I'm gonna research and hopefully someday teach college. In 15 short days, I will get on a plane and fly up to this small little city in the state of Washington called Seattle. I hear its rainy up there... hopefully I can deal. So these are the last days in LA, filled with spending time with friends, packing, and deciding what's necessary to bring... and what's not... at one point, 36" tv was necessary, but after moving a couple of times, not so much... so here goes the day-by-day account of Dan in the big city o' seattle...
