Final Goodbyes and Buying a Home?
===========================================
Well, I haven't written since Sunday, but that was because I was living up at USC once more. I had to work my last few shifts for Orientation and so I stayed with my great friend Jon, who worked with me both as a resident advisor and an orientation advisor. Jon is Obi-wan to my Qui-gon. He is now mentoring my good friend, and former resident Abbe(Anakin... yes she's gonna turn to the darkside, if she hasn't already). We go way back. Aside from working, I made my rounds to say some final goodbyes... former bosses, friends, former residents. It was sad but meaningful.
I also drove out to west Los Angeles to visit my friend Natalie and had a great late night conversation with her. I miss great conversations. But her apartment is amazing. She lives with two roommates in a spacious three-bedroom apartment. And they only pay $1,900 a month! Anyways, Natalie was my friend from sophomore year in college. She's totally a funny, extroverted person. We were supposed to go to Europe this summer, but stupid terrorists scared my parents into forbidding me to go. (I've still never been to Europe... grrrr!)
Speaking of rent, I was just thinking to myself, I might want just to find a smaller studio for maybe $400-550 a month. Live simply and save up. And you may think I'm crazy, but the thought of buying a house, and having a family *egads* will require quite a bit of money. So, if I can save $700 a month out of my $1450 a month paycheck, that gives me only $8,000 a so a year, which isn't much at all. And at the end of four years, that's only going to be $32,000 or so. That's roughly enough for a down payment I guess. This whole responsibility thing... yuck... but I guess you have to start sometime. And I was also thinking, I'd probably want a job on the side. Maybe I can work on weekends? Maybe at the Swatch store? I dunno. We'll see... minimum wage probably doesn't pay much... Sacrifices have to be made...
