A Good Lunch and A Day with the Brother
============================================
So what went on in Dan's very important life today? Well aside from going to Structure and lamenting once again on the demise of that once great store. (Rest in peace) And I curse those responsible for the advent of Express for Men! You money grubbing merger-mongers! I went and visited my dear friends Sheila, Michelle, and Julia. It was another "going away" dining event of sorts. And while we were at the great Sandwich Island in the University Village (go there soon before USC tears the place down), I surprisingly ran into some people from the past. On top of Charuni and Bri, I ran into Beth who I haven't seen or talked to since my freshmen year. She was Carmel's roommate... oh the memories. We nicknamed Beth "Waterfall" because quite literally her things, e.g. books, clothing, etc. cascaded from her side of the dorm room to the other side of the room. It was simply amazing. I also ran into a Mr. Pennachio who had gone to both middle school and high school with me. And even though he had been at USC these last four years as well, I saw him maybe once... maybe
But overall the lunch was great. I guess I might as well describe my three lunch buddies. Julia and I have, simply put, started off on the wrong foot. She has a sarcastic meanness that I really do not like. I want to believe she means well, since she's a big Christian and all, she's just not a friendly person. Michelle, is one of the sweetest people I know. Innocent and naive, a thespian and dancer, she lives to dream and tries to make those dreams a reality. (sometimes she floats off a little too far out there and maybe needs a little grounding, but I'm sure the time will come) She's also driving now ... egads!
Now I saved the best for last. Sheila. Many of you have heard about Sheila, she was the girl I had a crush on for pretty much all of my junior year in college. She's a cheerful, intelligent, caring person who also happens to be really cute. Close to being the nicest person in the world. She is one of the most beautiful people in the world, she's just too modest to admit to it. I have so many funny stories about her. Ask me about her "no-chocolate" diet. And just so I don't forget, she has a great picture of herself from the fifth grade in spandex with a great perm. (but we all have pictures like that, don't we? that shouldn't see the light of day?) I swear someday I'm gonna steal the picture, blow it up life-size. And if I have enough money... maybe on a big billboard in Manhattan or something. Kinda like those ridiculous "Angelina" billboards all around LA.
And so for the rest of today, I spent time with Mr. pimp-daddy himself, my brother. I'm sure all of you have heard about his shenanigans while visiting me this summer up at USC. The poor lad is emaciated from being sticken with pneumonia and strep. He finally got the energy to go play tennis and basketball with me today. Now he was still too weak to muster any force on the tennis court, but in basketball, the kid simply put me to school. He was draining shots left and right. Now in our once-daily game of 21, he 's beaten me 3 in a row now. And while the final score today was 21-16, it really wasn't that close. At one point it was 19-4. The kid simply couldn't miss from outside. A monster. And he's as tall as I am now, just ain't right. (tho I still outweigh him by a good 50 pounds) so backing him down and drilling a turn-around jumper still works. :) All is not lost... yet
t- 5 days...
